Lightwire-provided routers come with basic parental control features that let you block websites, set Wi-Fi schedules, and restrict access for specific devices.
While these controls are fairly simple, if you need something more advanced or user-friendly, you might want to consider dedicated apps or devices for parental control.
Here’s what the parental controls can do:
-
Website Blacklists:
You can block specific websites by entering their URLs, helping prevent access to inappropriate content. However, because each site needs to be added manually, a more comprehensive content blocker might be a better option if you need broader coverage. -
Wi-Fi Scheduling:
Set times or days when the Wi-Fi for certain devices will automatically turn off. This allows you to control when your kids can access the internet, like setting up Wi-Fi bedtimes or limiting access to weekends. -
Block Devices:
Prevent specific devices from connecting to your Wi-Fi altogether, giving you more control over which devices can access the internet.
To use the built-in tools, you'll need to log into your router with admin credentials. If you're interested in trying this, please contact our Support Team at support@lightwire.co.nz or 0800 12 13 14, and we’ll provide you with the necessary login details.
