What to do if you can’t send or receive text messages.
If your texts aren’t working as expected, the steps below will help you work through the most common issues.
I’m unable to send text messages
If you are unable to send text messages from your device, try the following:
- Ensure you are in cell coverage and are sending the text to a valid number
- Test if you can receive texts by having someone send you a message (or ask Lightwire to send a test message)
- Turn Flight Mode on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off again
- Turn your device off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on
- Reset your device’s network settings, then try sending another message
- Re-seat your SIM card to make sure it is connected correctly
- If needed, try a factory reset of your device
📱 Still not working? Try your SIM card in another device. If it works there, your current device may need replacing.
I’m not receiving text messages
If someone has sent you a text but it hasn’t come through, try the following:
- Ensure you are in cell coverage and that the message was sent to the correct number
- Test if you can receive texts by having someone send you a message (or ask Lightwire to send a test message)
- Turn Flight Mode on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off again
- Turn your device off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on
- Reset your device’s network settings, then try again
- If needed, try a factory reset of your device
📱 Still not working? Try your SIM card in another device. If it works there, your current device may need replacing.
