Text message “Not Delivered” on iPhone
Fix SMS showing as failed when they’ve actually sent.
This issue affects iPhones and iPads.
If you can’t send text messages, try the steps below. If it still doesn’t work, check our SMS troubleshooting guide.
What’s happening
Sometimes your phone shows a “Not Delivered” error, even though the message actually reaches the other person.
This usually happens when the number saved on your device doesn’t match the number Lightwire has provided.
How to tell
This only affects SMS (text messages), not iMessages.
- SMS messages appear green
- iMessages appear blue
What it looks like
You may see a red exclamation mark next to your message, with “Not Delivered” underneath.
How to fix it
Follow these steps in order:
- Turn off iMessage
- Update your “My Number”
- Turn iMessage back on
1. Turn off iMessage
- Open Settings
- Tap Messages
- Turn iMessage off
2. Update your “My Number”
- Open Settings
- Tap Phone
- Select My Number
- Delete the number completely and tap Save
- Open My Number again
- Enter your correct Lightwire number
- Tap Save
3. Turn iMessage back on
- Open Settings
- Tap Messages
- Turn iMessage back on
Once done, try sending a text to a non-Apple number to make sure everything is working.
